Rating:2 Born in East L.A. is a quality comedy which I would recommend to everyone. Cheech's character is stranded over the Mexican border. He tries his hand at any job going to earn enough pesos to be smuggled back home to USA. Laughs, music, romance and as awesome a finale as you will ever see. As for the other films they are just indescribably bad. The Penomena That is Cheech & Chong Rating:4 Cheech Marin (Mexican-American) and Thomas Chong (himself of mixed Chinese-European heritage), rose to fame in the late 1970's and early to mid 1980's. The two starred in 7 films together; Up in Smoke (1978) Next Movie (1980) Nice Dreams (1981) Things are Tough All Over (1982) Still Smoking (1983) The Corsican Brothers (1984) Get Out of My Room (1985) They made perhaps some of the funniest films ever shot - based upon the humour of drug 'highs' and paranoid 'lows'. The 'chemistry' between the two was truly astonishing. These films are not about whether drugs should or shouldn't be allowed - it is much more basic than that - these films are about what could and often does happen when relatively 'soft' (i.e. hash, ganja, ect) drugs are smoked. The box set contains on four of the above mentioned films - hence my rating of 4 out of 5 - it contains; Next Movie (1980) Nice Dream (1981) Things Are Tough All Over (1982) Get Out of my Room (1985) Born In East LA (1987) Perhaps the funniest movie is missing - 'Up In Smoke' - the movie that started it all for Cheech & Chong, and 'Born In East LA' does not star Thomas Chong, and was made by Cheech Marin after the two split in the mid 1980's due to creative differences.
