Wow, run ahead lad and tell awards to save that wonderful, classically, beautiful lady, who will have done only one "R" rated movie by the time she goes to an even better place, to save a couple for her!! Five films that receive almost universal adoration should at least show an actress with range - well she cracked an egg near a range. She's cute and although one didn't see them in close up the amount of times the director got her to get her feet out suggests in more modern times a tasteful rewrite of the embarrassingly coy (even for the time) "Breakfast" could have appealed to a larger audience. The voice and the angularly photogenic face is quite something but the real winner was her ability to produce tears at very slow or medium speed. And what's with the old superstars "making love to her"? I actually cringed as I think A.H did when thirty years older Fred Astaire got amorous. At least Humphrey Bogart - did he do Sabrina, a truly embarrassing film, because his career was in a slump? - at least signalled his embarrassment by saying how much older he was before he got down to a kiss which in those days seems to have taken it as read that, that was "R" rated sex. William Holden, a mere eleven years older, looked incongruous in Sabrina and like her uncle in Paris. Of the five films Roman Holiday, daft as it was, was head and shoulders above the other four so was Gregory Peck. Paris when it Sizzles looks like an expensive inside joke. Films within films need to be very good or you confuse and lose the audience or they just lose interest. As underated as I felt Marilyn Monroe was when I watched an extended collection recently,I think Audrey Hepburn was overrated. MM did not effectively star in five lemons playing herself or anything near it. a bargain box set ! Rating:5 this box set has 5 dvd films, 5 post cards and a book of breakfast at tiffany's that audrey hepburn has made her notes in (obviously a copy but excellent reading !). this is a bargain box set, i was very happy with my purchase, the box not only keeps the whole set together but looks good too. would make an ideal present for an audrey hepburn fan ! excellent value for money. Impish Hepburn in some of her best movies Rating:5 Some of her best films are collected together here. The only one I am less enchanted with is Sabrina (4:3, B&W, Mono), but my wife likes it. Breakfast at Tiffanys (16:9, Colour, 5.1), Roman Holiday (4:3, B&W, Mono), Paris When it Sizzles (16:9, Colour, Mono) are all wonderful and bear watching time and time again, and Funny Face (16:9, Colour, 5.1) always seems fresh after not having seen it for a while. I'd have preferred the collection to have included Two For The Road, or How To Steal A Million, or Charade, instead of Sabrina. The extra features on Roman Holiday (Collectors Edition included in this set) and Funny Face are worth a quick look. The technical quality is generally very good, and you tend not to notice the black and white pictures and mono sound on some of them after a few minutes of her cinematic magic. It is worth shopping around for a realistic price, as this set often can be found for less than a score. Breakfast is Best! Rating:4 As a fan of Audrey Heburn I bought this box set as it offered the best value. All of her films are good, Roman Holiday is wonderful fun, but Breakfast at Tiffany's is my favourite. An all-time classic! Prompt serveice and perfect product Rating:5 We are delighted with the DVD box set. It arrived quickly and is brand new, as described. |
