The best version of this clever story

I can't answer for the DVD as I haven't bought it yet though I will. I'm not a particular Alice fan so "ordinary" versions of the story aren't likely to grab me. It's the music that I love. I remembered it over many years when it never seemed to be shown on TV but finally it was shown again fairly recently. Surprising isn't it how some of the movies you love the best and remember for ever seem ignored by TV in favour of stuff you can't abide as often as not.....

Faithful to the book - that's satisfying too. Great acting, so many familiar people. Fiona Fullerton simply splendid as Alice and Michael Crawford is perfectly cast as the frantic rabbit - anyone seeing him in the unforgettably brilliant Some Mothers won't be surprised the rabbit is "his part".

I'm not going to worry too much if the quality visually isn't perfect. It's a bonus to be able to get hold of this movie at all.

The Best vesion of "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" EVER Made!!

This is, without doubt, the greatest version of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" (Yes, tha is what the book is really called) The only downside is that Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee from "Through the looking-Glass" appear (they shouldn't, it's an adaption of the first book, not the second) but nevertheless, no other people from that book appear. Fantastically acted, brillant songs and superb costumes. YES! FINALLY SOMEONE HAS STAYED FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINAL STORY! Don't waste your money on the horrible 1999 adaption, buy the real story instead.

I don't usually do reviews but this film was so bad I have been moved to do so now. I bought this film because the current Johnny Depp film does not follow the true story line so I thought this old 1970's film with all the stars might be enjoyed by the family. You can't really see which starring actor is which as they all disguised in their outfits. The film plods along in its preposterous way and family members crept out of the room one by one. I bought the film thinking it was an even older version that I remember seeing in black and white on television, presumably in the 1960's. That one I recall as being excellent. Anyway, after wasting a Saturday evening, this DVD was taken to a charity shop the following Monday. Sorry...

This is probably the film version that comes closest to Lewis Carroll's original ideas. (It even uses Carroll's original title). Superbly well cast, it remains faithful both to the story line and the songs found in the book. Fiona Fullerton is perhaps a little too grown up for the title role, but is charmingly innocent nevertheless. A star cast provides good support, amid colourful sets and, for the time, good special effects. This is a film for all ages to enjoy time and time again.

I saw this film on the TV a few weeks ago, and thought it was an ideal stocking filler for my 11 year-old grand daughter. It is very true to the book, which is what I liked about it.
